Do you have valuable opinions about policy issues? Have you ever wanted to share them with others and perhaps even with the policymakers themselves? One terrific way to get your voice heard is to write a letter to the editor in your local paper.
Never written a letter to the editor before? That’s okay — we’ll teach you how!
Join us on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00p for our workshop: How to Write an Effective Letter to the Editor (LTE).
What you will learn
David Billings, volunteer for national anti-poverty organization RESULTS, will teach us:
- Tips on how to write an effective letter to the editor that has the best chance of getting published
- How to submit a letter to your local paper
Then, Action Utah Issue Captains will lead us through talking points on a few key current issues impacting our communities so you can practice your newly learned writing skills on the spot. Issues will include state and federal topics like:
- Air Quality
Participants will have a chance to draft a letter and get feedback during the workshop in order to leave with a letter that is ready to submit!
Attend the workshop in person OR online!
This workshop will take place at the Salt Lake Public Library, Conference Room B. RSVP to join us in person by clicking here or emailing us. OR join us on Facebook for our live streamed event at @ActionUtah!
