Tell Chaffetz to investigate what matters

January 13th, 2017|URGENT Action|12 Comments

This week our Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, made three announcements:

  1. He would continue the investigation into Clinton’s emails (NBC)
  2. He would not look into the alleged Russian hacking of election, but rather defer to others on that issue (KUTV)
  3. He may investigate the chief of the independent Office of Government Ethics for confronting Trump on his conflicts of interest this week, but not Trump himself for his conflicts of interest (NY Times)

How do a majority of Utahns feel about these issues and what the priorities of our Utah Representatives should be? Let’s let Chaffetz know.

FLOOD Chaffetz’ Facebook AND Twitter (@jasoninthehouse) pages TODAY to let him know how you feel about the House Oversight Committee’s priorities, decision to place partisanship above valid concerns about threats to our citizens and government, use of public funds and responsibilities to protect the American people, the government and the election from interference by a hostile foreign power. THREE RULES:

  1. Be respectful – angry comments do not accomplish anything
  2. Use the hashtag #securityoverpolitics
  3. Be sure to mention if you are a constituent

This is an easy one, folks — you don’t even have to pick up the phone! But this action will only be effective if Chaffetz feels the flood. So please SHARE this action with others and COMMENT to let us know that you took action!

Unbelievable! Forget Clinton! Do not spend another penny on investigations about her. Been there done that! You have all you can handle with the issues needing investigated with Trump and his pack of billionaire nominees. Why would any of us want these people who have no idea of how real Americans live making decisions for us? I am a constituent and I am displeased with your choices. As I told your office earlier today, I have never before but now joined and given money to organizations supporting the America where I want to live. We are watching closely your choices on important matters like the Affordable Care Act, women’s rights to control over their own bodies and your job of oversight on this disturbing, utterly unprepared person taking the oath of the president. #securityoverpolitics

You know what Mr. Chaffetz? It would do you so well to listen to some of the people in the state you are supposed to represent. We want the Congress to look into the hacking of the election–which is exactly what it was. We want answers, and we want TRUTH.

Please focus on what matters! HRC has moved on-so should you. Investigate the President Elect that you voted into office.

  5. Marilyn Bushman-Carlton January 14, 2017 at 11:58 am

Be ethical, Chaffetz! Investigate the real problems, i.e. the multitude of ethical questions about Trump. I am embarrassed that you are my Representative.

  6. Lisa Signor January 14, 2017 at 12:03 pm

Investigate INCOMING president Trump. NOT Hillary Clinton.

  7. Catherine Lilly January 14, 2017 at 1:19 pm

    Rep. Chaffetz,

My name is Catherine Lilly. I want you to investigate fully Trump’s ties to Russia, not subpoena those who dare to criticize him. It’s time to finishing grinding your partisan axe against Secretary Clinton. In light of the mounting evidence of Trump’s involvement/communication/compromising by and with the Kremlin, you must focus your energies on investigations that matter. Remember, you at one point condemned Trump after his pussy remarks. You said you could not in good conscience look your daughters in the face while supporting him. Trump hasn’t change. All that has changed is what we know about how corrupt Trump is.

I am a Utah citizen. I have watched you engage in the most partisan politics, from your relentless (and fruitless) investigations of Clinton to your opposition of the Bears Easrs Monument. If you continue along this path, I will engage in every democratic process possible to see that you are not reelected. I know I am but one voice in a red state, but I count. It would be nice to feel that my views are even slightly represented in DC.

    Really shame on you

Thank you to everyone for sharing your comments! Please make sure to be posting these on Chaffetz’ Facebook page and Twitter page, or he won’t see them. And please be sure to use the hashtag #securityoverpolitics!

#securityoverpolitics Do the job you were sent to Washington to do. HRC is no longer a concern, stop your witch hunt and focus on the real issue at hand. You may be too young to recall the horrific events of the 1930’s but you certainly are old enough to learn the lesson from that time in history. You are asking the American people to lay down and be silent when the vast majority of Americans can see the road ahead. You are an American, please act like one and immediately begin the investigation surrounding all the concerns the American people are telling you need to be answered truthfully. Your stand on so many issues is against what the large percentage of Americans are for.
Do your job, or I assure you there will be many of us in your state that will work our hearts out to see you never return to Washington. Your conduct in the past has been shameful, you have the opporturnity to change that perception and truthfully and honestly represent the people of this state.

  11. Another sad day for Utah January 15, 2017 at 5:49 am

I love Utah and the abundance of good, ethical, generous people and ideas this state generates. However, I am continually embarrassed and ashamed about the way Utah is represented in Washington, especially by many of your actions, Congressman Chaffetz, which are even remotely a fair representation of this great but underrated state. Please consider changing your focus or get out of office.

HRC has been cleared; you were not elected to beat a dead horse. The future of our country is in crisis and there’s a lot of fear. Please use your position to try to keep trump in line. Many of us feel he’s a loose cannon who will get our country into unfortunate, if not dangerous positions. If he continues to get away with the things he’s been saying and doing, he will become our country’s first dictator.
