The Senate is fast tracking healthcare legislation, planning for a vote before their July recess. They have yet to release details of their version of the bill, but it is expected to closely resemble the American Health Care Act (AHCA), which passed the House of Representatives in May. The AHCA would cut Medicaid funding by nearly $1 billion, roll back protections for consumers with pre-existing conditions, repeal sources of Medicare funding, and is predicted to increase health care premiums for older adults. Those are some of the reasons why the AHCA the most unpopular piece of legislation that Congress has considered in decades.
On top of these cuts, the President’s Federal Budget proposal includes additional cuts to Medicaid, as well as cuts to Social Security Disability.
We need to send Senator Hatch and Senator Lee a strong message that Utahns don’t want cuts to Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security in the health care bill or in the budget process, and we need the Senate to be working to make our healthcare more affordable, not more expensive.

My name is (name) , I am a voter from (city) and a (manufactured homeowner, senior, veteran, mother, business owner, etc.) . I’m calling today to tell Senator (Lee or Hatch) that I am very concerned by the health care legislation they are working on. The AHCA would make life harder for millions of Americans. You should not support any legislation or budget that cuts Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security, we need the Senate to be working to make our healthcare more affordable, not more expensive. We all deserve access to quality healthcare, no one in this country should be sick or die because they can’t afford to see a doctor or pay for medications.
