Today is a holiday, and the State Legislature is not in session. However, tomorrow a bad bill will get a vote by the full House.
HB 141: Early Voting Amendments proposes to ease elections costs by reducing the number of early voting days from 14 down to just 2 for any municipality and for counties that conduct elections entirely by mail. Saving money is great, but not at the expense of disenfranchising people who rely on early voting to cast their ballot by limiting the days that service is available.
The people most commonly impacted by reduction in early voting days are rural voters, low income people and the elderly.
