Amazing news! HCR007 passed in the House yesterday 46-24-5! The victory is a tremendous testament to bridge building and efforts to meet legislators where they are. This terrific resolution to address environmental stewardship, including climate variability and its impacts, using economically viable solutions, now moves on to the Senate, where it will face an even tougher battle. That’s why HCR007 needs your help now more than ever to send thoughtful, polite emails to senators to ask for their support.
HCR007: Concurrent Resolution on Environmental and Economic Stewardship would overturn an older resolution by the Utah state legislature from 2010 that calls climate change a “hoax”, normalizing conversations about climate and allowing legislators to come together from both sides of the aisle in the “Utah Way” to figure out solutions that reduce emissions, protect natural resources and address health concerns. That’s why this bill has 30 House co-sponsors and support from Rocky Mountain Power, Rio Tinto, Ski Utah, Silicon Slopes, The Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Garbett Homes, Mark Miller Toyota, Utah Technology Council, Snowbird, Alta, Solitude and Deer Valley!
