Interim Session is a special day each month from May through November when our state legislators come together to learn about current issues facing our state and policy proposals to address them. Interim meetings are open to the public and are a great place to learn about our state legislators and the political process. Click here to learn more about Interim Session.
Action Utah invites YOU to join us at the next Interim Session on June 20th on Capitol Hill. No experience necessary!
This month our Interim Session Tour of the State Capitol will spotlight a discussion on education advocacy, featuring Action Utah’s Ashley Anderson and Utah Education Association’s Jay Blain. Attendees will gain an understanding of how our state legislative branch works and how to engage it, plus:
Ways teachers and parents can get involved legislatively on behalf of their schools and classrooms
Other venues in which to advocate, depending on the specific education issue
Role of UEA in advocating for policies for teachers and how to communicate your ideas about priority policies to the UEA
Overview of current education issues, like education funding (including the Our Schools Now compromise), teacher and paraprofessional shortage, school grading and your concerns
