Support organizations helping immigrants

People from both sides of the aisle in America believe that immigration policy is a mess and that empathetic and ethical immigration reform is both necessary and possible. But as politicians debate solutions, organizations on the ground are working hard every day to help individuals and families caught in the chaos and mire of unethical and inadequate policies.

Please consider giving time or money to any of the following good organizations.

Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative (SIFI), a project of the SPLC that enlists and trains volunteer lawyers to provide free legal representation to detained people facing deportation proceedings in the Southeast.

Together Rising finds and vets grassroots organizations working with immigrant families at the border on your behalf, offers support where it is needed most, and then reports the successes back to you.

Holy Cross Ministries of Utah provides direct representation and pro bono placement for applicants in the following four service areas: Immigrant Survivors of Violence; Family Reunification; Temporary and Humanitarian Forms of Relief; and Citizenship and Naturalization; plus individual counseling and orientation via its Legal Immigration Program.

Catholic Community Services of Utah’s Immigration Program provides full legal representation to immigrants and refugees when they submit applications to ‘legalize’ or upgrade their immigration status. CCS also provides individual consultations to immigrants, refugees and even U.S. citizens who have questions about immigration laws, procedures and basic eligibility or who may face deportation.

Comunidades Unidas (Communities United) is Utah nonprofit offering Immigration and Immigrant Rights programs and advocacy to help Utah families stay united and informed about their rights and an Immigration Clinic to provide low-cost representation from DOJ (Dept of Justice) certified representatives for those looking to apply, renew, or update their immigration status.
