Domestic violence remains a prevalent issue in Utah. One in three women experience domestic violence or intimate partner abuse in their lifetime. In 2018 alone, 35 people lost their lives in a domestic violence related incident. In 59% of domestic violence homicides, the perpetrator chose a firearm as their weapon of choice.
To address this crisis, it is important that the legislature, the Bureau of Criminal Identification, and local law enforcement agencies work together. That’s why HB 325 requires law enforcement agencies to report certain information related to prohibited persons and domestic violence!
Ask members of the House Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee to support HB 325 to improve reporting procedures and help prevent domestic violence!
