There is a 54,000 unit shortage of affordable housing in Utah – and growing. SB 34 Affordable Housing Modifications has passed the Senate Economic Development & Workforce Services Committee, the Senate Floor, the House Economic Development & Workforce Services Committee and now sits in House Rules to wait for Executive Appropriations to prioritize the funding. This good bill would encourage cities to create affordable housing plans in conjunction with transportation plans in order to receive funding from the Transportation Investment Fund. That means greater ability for developers to build the housing our state so greatly needs!
SB 54 requests $20 million of on-time money and $4 million of ongoing money. It’s time to ask the Executive Appropriations Committee to fund SB 34!
