Last chance to get this education bill out of Rules!

It’s the last chance to advocate for Rep. Marie Poulson’s (D-Salt Lake) proposed solution to improve Utah’s school grading system. This change would make an accountability dashboard permanent without the use of a single letter grade to evaluate Utah school’s.

Although former Senate President Niederhauser passed school grading in 2011 to help schools improve, other states which employed similar policies are making modifications. The best way to honor Niederhauser’s legacy would be to make modifications that we know will support his original goal of ensuring high standards for education.
As it stands, single letter grades negatively impact enrollment, funding and teacher retention.

Ask the Senate President and Rules Committee to move HB 198 to committee!

HB 198 has passed unanimously in the House committee and nearly unanimously on the House floor with strong support from the UEA, Utah School Board, Utah PTA, teachers and administrators. But now it needs your help to be heard in the Senate.

Tell the Senate President and Senate Rules Committee to take action today!
