Attend a town hall on tax reform

One of the biggest topics of the 2019 State Legislative Session was tax reform, with an ambitious plan to overhaul the state sales tax that was revealed late in the session. HB 441 received an uproar of criticism from the public and stakeholders and was ultimately tabled in favor of establishing a task force to determine a path forward on the much-needed reform.

As the Deseret News recently pointed out, the tax reform strategy is largely in the hands of Republicans legislators who have neglected to adequately educate the public on why the reform is necessary or include the public in the discussions about or development of the tax reform policy. Democratic legislators have taken note of these needs and created a series of town halls on tax reform to help people get their voices heard.
