Ask Congress to protect the bipartisan Land and Water Conservation Fund

Year after year, polling shows that a large majority of Utahns consider themselves to be conservationists and want to ensure we protect sources of clean water, our air quality and wildlife habitat while providing opportunities to visit and recreate on our national public lands.

For over 50 years, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has done just that – protecting over 45,000 state and local park projects in all 50 states. LWCF is our nation’s most critical program for conserving parks and public lands – whether it be the historic battlefields in Virginia, the urban parks in Ohio, or the majestic landscapes of Zion National Park.

The LWCF has enjoyed bipartisan support for decades, and in February, Congress voted to permanently reauthorize funding once again via S.47. However, some have since proposed cutting or even eliminating funding to the LWCF, undermining important local, state, and federal efforts aimed at supporting our public lands and green spaces.

The bipartisan Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act (S.1081/H.R.3195) would fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Ask your members of Congress to support this ongoing, permanent funding for the LWCF.

  • Call on your two senators and one congressional rep to fight against budget cuts for the LWCF and cosponsor the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act in order to continue expanding and preserving Americans’ access to outdoor recreation by protecting our public lands now and for future generations!
