Yesterday we heard big news for climate change when Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Chris Coons (D-DE) announced the formation of the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus. The caucus is considered largely to be a way to let Republican lawmakers become a part of the climate conversation by removing the “politics” from the issue and offering members from both sides of the aisle a chance to work together to pass legislation to address climate change.
Even bigger news for Utah is that our Sen. Romney has indicated that he will join the Climate Solutions Caucus! Other members of the caucus will include Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. A House Climate Solutions Caucus was formed earlier this year by Reps. Ted Deutch (D-FL) and Francis Rooney (R-FL).
Let’s thank our Utah senator for joining this important conversation and the effort to de-politicize conversations around climate change!
