Action Utah is proud to partner with Girls Lobby for the 2020 State Legislative session!
Girls Lobby empowers high school girls by connecting them to local civic engagement pipelines. Their mission is to teach girls to take power and give back by lobbying their state legislatures.
Girls who participate in the annual program will learn how to:
- Track bills
- Call legislators
- Speak at town halls
- Testify at hearings
- Write editorials

How it works
Girls are divided into issue-based cohorts. A cohort consists of ten girls and two trained, college-aged woman facilitators.
Each cohort works with a local non-profit on specific legislative priorities. Girls can lobby for or against any bill. We just want them to be talking about it! In 2020, Girls Lobby is partnering Action Utah and YWCA-Utah.
Girls attend hour-long meetings once a week for ten weeks with their Cohorts. Cohorts will meet on Zoom, a secure, online video chat classroom. Girls are required to spend one day at the State Legislature, testifying and participating in press conferences at the capitol. See the curriculum schedule here.
Registration for the 2020 Legislative Program is now open! Grab a friend and sign up to take power and give back this January!
