Ask your representatives in House leadership to allow a vote on HCR 11 Supporting the Utah Roadmap for Positive Solutions and Leadership on Climate and Air Quality!
In 2018, the Utah Legislature passed HCR 7 on Environmental and Economic Stewardship, the first climate resolution in a red state, which acknowledged climate change and prioritized the use of sound science and innovative solutions to address the causes and issues presented by a changing climate. In 2019, the Legislature passed an unprecedented $29 million to fund air quality initiatives, including funding for a review of air quality and changing climate research by the Kem C. Gardner Institute to help the state improve air quality and address the importance of Utah’s changing climate. Accordingly, the Kem C. Gardner Institute produced for the Legislature the Utah Roadmap for Positive Solutions on Climate and Air Quality, a comprehensive report and set of seven milepost recommendations for addressing a changing climate and air quality issues at the state and federal level.
HCR 11 supports the Utah Roadmap as a guide for leadership and discussions around positive solutions for a changing climate and air quality issues at the state and federal level. But this good bill is stuck in Rules and hasn’t yet had a hearing. Please ask the representatives in House leadership to allow HCR 11 to be heard in a committee before it’s too late!
