Exec appropriations meets in one hour! Make your voice heard!!

Today the executive appropriations committee will meet to discuss the budget cuts to reflect the deficit in tax revenue created by the coronavirus.

It is imperative that as much of the budget as possible stay in place for social safety net programs and public health programs during this economic downturn.

What You Can Do

Contact your legislator this morning and urge them to use caution when reducing budgets for healthcare, public health programs, housing programs and funding for homeless services.

(Remember to personalize your comments for the greatest impact! Why do YOU support this proposal?)

  • Any reductions we make result in additional costs down the road in the form of other interventions.
  • The good work the state has done to reduce drug use, improve conditions for families experiencing intergenerational poverty, homelessness, etc will be undone if we do not push ahead in this important work.
  • While Utah is entering an acceleration phase of COVID-19 infections, public health workers need funding for contact tracing and community health workers
