The County Board of Commissioners is made up of three elected County Commissioners (one Chairman, one Vice Chair and one Commissioner) who hold responsibilities for the executive and legislative powers, duties and functions of the county. The Commissioners are charged with levying taxes, adopting ordinances and making policy for the residents in San Juan County as it relates to county business.
The County Commission serves both as the executive and legislative branches of San Juan County Government. The Commission coordinates the efforts of the different County agencies and approves the County budget. They appoint citizen committees, establish special service districts, create and administer programs to provide community services. The Commission enacts ordinances that affect the health, safety, and general welfare of San Juan County citizens.
